CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Curious about linoblock printing? Join artist Susan Lefler for a fun, hands-on "taster" session of linoleum block printing. In this express 30-minute workshop, you will learn the essentials: rolling ink, aligning blocks, and operating a small press.
Using a selection of pre-carved blocks, you’ll jump right into the printing process (the fun part!) to create a custom bookmark and postcard to take home.
Susan's work captures beautiful botanical patterns, guests will print with designs featuring leaves, florals, and nature-inspired motifs.
All materials will be provided for this introductory class.
MEET THE MAKER:
Susan Lefler is an Artist and Printmaker based in Alexandria, Virginia. She's drawn to color, pattern and capturing small details of the botanical world. Susan has been an artist for as long as she can remember, but it wasn’t until 2021, when she rediscovered printmaking, that her path toward becoming a full-time artist truly began.
What started as a part-time curiosity in evening art classes quickly bloomed into a full-time passion.The tactile rhythm of carving, the thrill of revealing inking a new block and the quiet, meditative process throughout keeps her enthralled with the printmaking art form.
