Learn how to create a strong portfolio & how to prepare for a portfolio review, including the upcoming Exposure Portfolio Review!
About this Event

This workshop is designed to help photographers understand and prepare for a portfolio review. Whether you’re new to portfolio reviews or returning with a fresh project, this session offers practical guidance on how to present your work effectively and make the most of your time with reviewers.

Led by experienced facilitators from the Exposure Photography Festival, the workshop will cover what makes a strong portfolio, including image editing and sequencing, deciding how much work to show, and navigating one or multiple bodies of work. We'll discuss both printed and digital presentation formats, their practical considerations, and strategies for communicating your practice clearly.

The session will also cover how to navigate the portfolio review itself, including researching your reviewers, introductions, setting feedback expectations, listening productively, and managing nerves. A mock portfolio review will walk participants through the whole process, with opportunities to pause and ask questions.

This workshop demystifies the portfolio review process, so you can arrive prepared, confident, and ready to have a productive, engaged conversation about your work.

We’d love to see you at the Exposure Portfolio Review event in February, so we’re offering a special discount on the cost of the Portfolio Review for anyone who attends this workshop. Workshop attendants will receive $20 off their Exposure Portfolio Review registration. The discount information will be sent upon registration of this workshop.

Sponsored by Hahnemühle.
