With particularly high facility rates and thousands of confirmed cases worldwide, the Health and Safety Executive take controlling Legionnaires disease very serious indeed. According to the HSE, inadequate management, poor communication and lack of training have all been identified as contributory factors in outbreaks of Legionnaire’s disease. This is why the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice (L8) and HSG274 put a real emphasis on the importance of training for all persons with responsibility for water systems in buildings, as well as those who maintain them and manage any part of the legionella control scheme.
