Exploring Women’s Health through Fiction

Susan Midalia's novel Everyday Madness and Josephine Taylor's Eye of a Rook both explore the physical and psychological effects of chronic illness on their female characters, and how the men in their lives struggle to deal with the crisis. Both novels are narrated from multiple perspectives that highlight different personal and historical responses to women’s illness; and both novels offer the possibility of hope.
