Join us in the Planetarium for this free talk with Dr. Riddhi Banyopadhyay, Princeton University. The solar wind is a continuous flow of charged particles streaming away from the sun. Our solar system, including Earth, is embedded in the solar wind flow. The interaction of Earth's magnetic field with the solar wind creates phenomena like the aurora borealis. Big disturbances in the solar wind can also disrupt electrical grid systems on Earth and damage satellites flying in space. Dr. Banyopadhyay explains how they explore the origin and different properties of solar wind using NASA missions.
