Are you new to the Tampa Bay area? A true Tampa-dweller through and through? Just want to know more about the 813? Explore Tampa Bay through the eyes of local author Kristen Hare, Tampa Bay Times Journalist Gabrielle Calise, and Sarasota-based photographer and writer Michael Adno.
This event will take place in the commerce club, an events space on the 2nd floor of the Oxford Exchange. Free parking is available both on the street and in our weekend lot at 606 W. Kennedy Boulevard.
Tickets are $5, and can be applied towards the purchase of a book on the day of the event.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Kristen Hare covers the people and business of local news and is the editor of Locally at Poynter. She previously worked as a staff writer with the St. Louis Beacon and as a features writer with the St. Joseph News-Press. Before that, Kristen spent two years in Guyana, South America, with the Peace Corps. Her stories have earned national honors, including the Darrell Sifford Memorial Prize in Journalism from the University of Missouri and first place wins from the Society for Features Journalism. Kristen lives outside of Tampa, Florida, with her family. You can follow her on Twitter at @kristenhare.
Gabrielle Calise is the Offbeat Florida, Local Personalities and Nostalgia Reporter for the Tampa Bay Times. Her stories explore Florida history and provide context for local oddities, in addition to culture news, interesting people in the area and trends. She also launched the community reporting project Florida Wonders. Gabrielle is a graduate of the University of Florida and was a journalism fellow in Germany through the RIAS Berlin exchange program. Find her on twitter at @gabriellecalise.
