Exploring Social Self-Awareness Workshop

Facilitated by: Maria Suarez (she/her), Community Teen Director with the YMCA of WNC

Join us for a dynamic and interactive workshop that invites you to explore and understand the factors that shape our social interactions, both consciously and unconsciously. Through thoughtful reflection and engaging activities, you'll uncover hidden influences in the way we see ourselves and others.

Through guided activities, group discussions, and practical tools, participants will:

• Gain insight into both the conscious and unconscious dynamics that shape social interactions
• Learn to recognize influences that limit authentic connections and community engagement
• Understand how to create spaces that genuinely welcome everyone

This workshop is inspired by the workbook created by Taquelia Washington, LCSW, and the Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. (CIR), with activities adapted for a general audience. Whether you're new to this topic or ready to deepen your understanding, this workshop provides meaningful insights and practical steps for personal growth and community change.

Note: Please come prepared to engage in self-reflection and participate in discussions. Taking care of your emotional well-being is important; we encourage you to take breaks as needed during the workshop.

Children are welcome! For kids ages 7 and up, we have a kid-friendly room where they can hang out during the training, equipped with toys, a chalk wall, coloring books, books, and Disney+.
