About this Event
This one-day workshop is a supportive space for white-identifying novice educators and staff to explore how our racial identity shapes our daily work in schools. Antiracism requires this foundational work, and when we do it together, we grow and change and build the community we need to keep going.
Together, we’ll engage in an exploration of whiteness as an identity and system. We’ll learn and practice some tools and habits that help us recognize and respond to how whiteness shapes our daily interactions with students, families, and colleagues. We'll explore racial identity development, examine how our bodies carry and respond to racial dynamics, and investigate how we unconsciously participate in systems of white supremacy.
This workshop will help participants:
- Build ongoing practices for racial awareness and growth
- Connect with a community of white educators committed to this journey
- Investigate the ways we unknowingly participate in systems of white supremacy
Whether you're new to exploring your white identity or have some experience, this workshop provides fundamental tools for continuing growth. Come ready to engage in honest dialogue, somatic practices, and collective learning.
