Exploring Painting and Drawing - 6 week Artist Course

Let’s try……Painting and Drawing!

Have you had a little bit of art experience and would like to pick it up again? Or do you have some experience but would like to get more into it and take another step on your artistic journey? Either way this course could be for you.

Aims of this course will be to help you tune into your own artistic creativity, enable you to explore colour and how to use it effectively in your own art and to gain confidence in drawing, painting and art in general.

In practical terms, you will learn how to use the colour wheel as a starting point to mix and combine colours and potentially produce both beautiful vibrant and subtle effects. You will have the opportunity to do collaging, stencilling and combine these with your painting. You will draw from objects, the human form and from imagination, touching upon tried and tested measuring techniques, alongside more spontaneous sketchy techniques aimed at encouraging your own unique sense of artistic expression; your own artistic voice!

You will be supported throughout in all the drawing and painting activities. Richard will lead from the front with advice and demonstrations on how to approach each of the activities. He will also give individual guidance and talk about artists who inspire some of the techniques we will explore.

All the activities will aim to help you tap into your own creativity, inspire you on your artistic journey, and of course, have an enjoyable experience along the way!

About Richard

Richard is a local artist and art teacher with 25 years experience at Andover College during which time he has run many art courses, including A level Fine Art, Photography and Graphic Design, plus adult leisure courses. He now devotes more of his time to his own creative projects, whilst teaching part time. Added to this he is currently running an adult art evening class in Winchester. During June last year, Richard exhibited a group of portraits of his daughter in the window of Unity Art Studios.
