Experienced artist and educator Pam Vaughan is back for another year with a series of drawing classes. This series is open for new participants and those returning who wish to extend the skills learnt previously.
In an engaging and supportive environment, with a playful approach to studio practice, you will produce a series of drawings in which you will explore a variety of observational drawing techniques and experiment with a range of media including pencil, charcoal, chalk pastels, ink, collage and paint. The subject matter will include still life, landscapes and animals.
The tuition will include techniques for mindful self-reflection on the artworks you produce and processes for how to recognise your own visual language which may include naturalistic or abstract interpretations. Alongside this you will be encouraged to move towards creative autonomy.
About Pam Vaughan: Her studio practice currently focusses on drawing and printmaking with an exploration of animals and landscape and a conversation about ‘aliveness’. This conversation is fed by contemplation on the works of the Sumi-E painters, poet Mary Oliver, experience with yoga and mindfulness practise, and contemporary physics research. This has all contributed to a notion she holds closely, that mark-making is a physical and energetic extension of the body. Her exhibiting activities have included being awarded a national printmaking award and being a finalist in the Sulman, Dobell and Kedumba exhibitions. She has taught in the community and education sectors including time with Sydney University and the National Art School.
Bring with you: 1x A3 pad of cartridge paper to use in the class.
