Join us for a free walking tour of the Magoffin Historic District on Thursday, April 10, at 10 AM, starting at the Magoffin Home State Historic Site (1120 Magoffin Avenue). Led by noted community historian Gary Williams, this tour will highlight newly uncovered research and updates featured in the latest neighborhood brochure published by the El Paso Community Foundation and the El Paso County Historical Commission. Discover the Eastern remnants of El Paso’s once-extensive electric streetcar system, stand beneath the shade of one of the city’s most beautiful water pump stations, and uncover the story behind a hidden animal water fountain. As you walk 1.75 miles over two hours, you’ll visit the former homes and workplaces of remarkable figures, including Sheriff Chris P. Fox, Dr. Ira Bush ("The Gringo Doctor"), Madame Tillie Howard, Chinese businessman Sam Hing, and many more.
