About this Event
This 3-week sampler class is the perfect introduction for adults who want to try something new in a relaxed, supportive setting. Over the course of the class, you’ll dive into the element of art, color, and learn foundational clay slab techniques as well as mindfulness —with a focus on slowing down, learning the color wheel and the emotions, feelings and attributes we attach to color as well as utilizing color in a way that sparks interest to viewers. This is a great way to understand the feel of clay, build confidence in making art, and create beautiful art pieces by hand.
No experience is necessary, all materials, tools, and kiln firing are included.
This class meets November 18th, 25th and December 2nd from 5:30-7:30pm.
Instructor: D.M. Potwin of Elephant Shoe Studio
Danielle M. Potwin lives in Washington State; she earned her BFA in Sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has taught high school as well as assisted in teaching college classes in clay, drawing, painting, hot glass, sculpture and printmaking. Her work has been featured in The Boston Globe and Art New England. Previous to becoming a first generation college graduate, Potwin was a pastry chef and worked in kitchens and R&D for 15 years. She also holds certification in SEL and mindfulness facilitation as well as being a certified yoga teacher and loves being able to give her knowledge and teach skills to people of all ages.
