This day-long workshop highlights Native American traditions through the lens of domestic arts, focusing on cuisine and textile work—areas often overlooked in mainstream history. The morning will feature a hands-on cooking session exploring traditional foods, including making fry bread. After lunch, students will explore Native textile traditions, focusing on Ute beadwork, and then engage in a hands-on beading activity that connects cultural learning with creative expression.Goal: Teach students about valuable cultural history with hands-on activities.
This program is for students in grades 7th-12th.
