A friendly warning:
You may see a head looking at its own ass from afar, tiny, flashing eyes with a dirty look, a stingy mouth that bites and make annoying sounds, one big belly, detached nails, a short dance for the imaginary cat and a kicking robot leg.
In her graduation piece, Zrinka Užbinec explores the chimeric and montage-like perception of the dancing body, embracing interruptions and glitches in the dance.
The performance challenges the normative and linear narrative of the dancer’s body.
It is an exploded machine, revealing a monstrous body, a body of many, a body in-between.
"I dreamt of the space with different organic and inorganic materials like hair, feathers, fur, straw, earth, fish scales, sand, small light bulbs. It was lit up by natural light that falls through slits and holes in the moving curtain hung on a huge window. I entered the space and started to move through the landscape of materials. Collecting them, sticking them on myself contingently, to make them part of me, as my new collective nature, a chosen set of ⎨I⎬, the I that contains them, dancing in the world of many" /by Zrinka Užbinec
