About this Event

Found wood and stained paper

Found wood can be used to create printed images. You can source it from discarded building materials, from pieces of old furniture, and find it in the bush. Keep in mind that it needs to be fairly flat to go through a printing press. A baren or wooden spoon can also be used to print an image.

Found wood can carry the story of its previous life, as scratches, holes and interesting shapes. You can also carve into it, or collage material on top. The wood itself can also be part of an image or installation. The recycling of wood also carries a positive environmental message, by using what already exists around us to make art.

Collect various pieces of found wood and other materials suitable for printing and bring to the workshop. We will print them as is, and then create your own images by carving, collaging and printing from a number of blocks.

We will also stain paper with natural and commercial pigments and use these as the background for relief prints.
