LSO opens with Jean Sibelius’ stirring Finlandia, a tone poem considered as Finland’s unofficial national anthem. Rita Porfiris then takes the stage to perform Julia Adolphe’s Unearth, Release – a concerto showcasing the rich tone of the viola. The concert finishes with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, based on One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights).
