'Potteric Carr is an area of low-lying land to the south east of Doncaster which forms the floodplain of the River Torne. The site is fabulous for birdwatching with marsh and water birds being particularly numerous. Over 230 species of birds have been recorded and 102 species have bred, with over 65 species breeding each year. A major extension to the site was designed to enhance this and has already resulted in breeding marsh harriers and bitterns.' Yorkshire Wildlife Trust website.
This will be a socially paced ramble of around 3/4 hours long with opportunities to stop for a break or take photographs. We will stop to have a packed lunch so it is worth bringing food and drinks.
People who use other types of off-road mobility equipment are welcome to join the ramble, however, the route has only been checked using a Mountain Trike and access cannot be guaranteed. Please contact us to discuss this prior to booking.
If you have never tried a Mountain Trike before and/or have never attended an Experience Community ramble before, please contact us at [email protected] before booking a space on the event so we can discuss it further with you.
