Don’t miss the opening of our three new exhibitions, featuring new and acclaimed works by Queensland and international artists.
At 3pm, hear exhibiting artist Jasmine Togo-Brisby in conversation with Imelda Miller (Curator, Torres Strait Islander and Pacific Indigenous Studies, Queensland Museum) as they discuss the Australian South Sea Islander artist’s practice and her new exhibition, It Is Not a Place.
Afterwards, join us for opening celebrations and explore our three new shows—including Platform, an exhibition of groundbreaking new commissions by emerging Queensland artists Miguel Aquilizan, Mia Boe, and Sarah Poulgrain, and the mind-bending work of Hong Kong-based artist Angela Su.

About the Exhibitions
Jasmine Togo-Brisby is an Australian South Sea Islander artist who conjures with an iconography of tall ships, decorative ceilings, and crow feathers. It Is Not a Place features two major new commissions—a sculpture and a video—exploring her identity and the impacts of the Pacific slave trade.
Our new annual exhibition Platform showcases new commissions by emerging Queensland artists under forty, enabling their work to reach wider audiences. In 2024, we present new works by Miguel Aquilizan, Mia Boe, and Sarah Poulgrain.
Angela Su’s pseudo-documentary The Magnificent Levitation Act of Lauren O tells the story of her fictional alter-ego Lauren O, a mysterious circus performer drawn to levitation practices. The centrepiece of her show Arise at the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2022, the video links the perils of flight to the recesses of the mind.
