About this Event
Aboriginal Art Co is proud to present new works by Dylan Mark Bolger
Dylan is a proud descendant of the Maiawali, Karuwali, Pitta-Pitta and Gomeroi peoples. Dylan approaches all his projects by combining his art, culture and technical expertise to deliver unique outcomes.
Leaf SZN recognises the resilience and the Blakness, in the built environment of so called ‘Australia’, through the Macaranga leaf. The Macaranga, being of old world genesis, is considered to be a re-coloniser or pioneer plant. After devastation, it is one of the first plants to grow back and breathe new life into space. The concept of the Macaranga leaf is a representation of First Nations people and culture being of ‘old world genesis’ as Aboriginal people grow back through the devastation of colonisation.
Come along to view these works and hear about the motivations and process behind the works. This is an open invitation to a casual, social occasion to network and learn. There will also be refreshments and light catering by Three Little Birds.
Aboriginal Art Co is also supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Australian Government through through Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support (IVAIS), with philanthropic support through Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and Creative Partnerships Australia via the Australian Cultural Fund (ACF).
