About the Book Launch
Gray Street Workshop is one of Australia’s most renowned artist-run initiatives. Anne Brennan will speak about the challenges and pleasures of writing its history and the task of tracing the evolution of the work made for the unique, witty and poignant exhibition that celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the Workshop’s establishment. She will then lead a lively discussion with Gray Street Workshop partners, Lisa Furno, Sue Lorraine and Catherine Truman about the way shared themes in the exhibition are articulated so differently by each artist, a cogent expression of how the group works – in their own words – 'separately together'.

Exhibition Statement
In celebration of Gray Street Workshop’s 40th anniversary, JamFactory presents Beautiful Tensions, a major touring exhibition honouring the momentous legacy and talent of the workshop by showcasing new work by the four current partners: Jess Dare, Lisa Furno, Sue Lorraine and Catherine Truman.
Exhibition Title | Structured Connections
Artists | Alison Jackson, Ingrid Lockley Penc, Sarah Augusta Murphy
Exhibition Statement
Structured Connections brings together the work of Alison Jackson, Ingrid Lockley Penc and Sarah Murphy, tracing almost two decades of creative dialogue and collaboration. From early days sharing university workshops to 10 years of exhibiting at KIN Gallery, our practices have evolved in parallel, intertwined through space, conversation and mutual support. This exhibition reflects on the ways our shared environments have shaped our artistic identities, fostering both individual expression and collective growth. Structured Connections celebrates the enduring ties between makers, the structures that sustain us and the rich intersections where our creative paths continue to meet.
