Join us for a final look at Women: A Gallery Anthology, on view at Roberson through April 6th. $4 general admission from 5 PM to 9 PM as part of Broome County Arts Council's First Friday Art Walk.Women: A Gallery Anthology is a lyrical compilation of words, art, and artifacts that draw from the wellspring of women’s literature, past and present.
Using women’s voices as a point of departure, this exhibition examines issues that affect the lives of all people. More than 15 pieces of literature, written by women across multiple centuries, have been selected as the starting point for this multi-media exhibition. Visitors will recognize world renowned authors, such as Emily Dickinson and Audre Lorde, among the 15 foot banners that fill Sears Harkness Gallery.
Dispersed among these banners are works spanning multiple mediums; ceramics, paintings, textiles, and more,
that match the tone or theme of the writing they accompany. Women: A Gallery Anthology is a reinterpretation of an exhibition presented over 20 years ago in the same space, this time taking advantage of Roberson’s larger collection of women’s work.
