About this Event

Join us for our next Exeter TWIG with the topic focus:

Stop the Pressure Week 2025

We will be joined by the Tissue Viability Team from Royal Devon University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who will be sharing their experiences around Pressure Ulcers.

“What Matters to Me Is…”
The Society of Tissue Viability’s 2025 Stop the Pressure Campaign

Pressure ulcers don’t discriminate. They can affect anyone — from newborn babies to those at the end of life — across every type of care setting: at home, in hospital, in care homes, in emergency care systems such as ambulances and A&E, and even in hospices.

They don’t always appear while under clinical care. Sometimes, they develop before a person seeks help, and other times while care is being provided by professionals or social carers.

People frequently move between care settings, so it’s essential that every point of care offers consistent, well-communicated, evidence-based support.

We Know What Works — So Why Isn’t It Always Working?

There is no shortage of literature proving that evidence-based interventions, can dramatically reduce the risk of pressure ulcers. These interventions are grounded in decades of research and clinical trials — and yet, they’re not always successful in practice.

Why? Often, clinicians say that patients don’t “concord” with the care plan. But maybe the real issue is that we’re not listening closely enough. Care shouldn’t be done to patients — it should be done with them. Success begins with understanding what really matters to them, in their own context, and adapting care to meet those priorities.

This TWIG will be hosted face to face at RILD building based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital site (Seminar room `2).

Food will be provided for attendees from 6:00pm and the talk will start at 6:30pm, with time allocated for a Q&A after.

As always please feel free to share this invitation with your colleagues interested in tissue and wounds. Any questions please email : [email protected].
