China has been very much in the news lately. President Trump has introduced tariff programs to address the long-term negative trade balance the US has with China. This has upended the economies of both countries. In many ways, China's economy and infrastructure are the largest in the world, justifiably labeling it "the world's factory". President Xi, who is fixated on control, is faced with many critical issues, any one of which would be a serious focal point for any other nation. It has world-class universities and the most modern infrastructure of any country. And it has a very substantial military and by far the world's most powerful navy. And the debate about Taiwan increases.
This course dives into where China stands today domestically and internationally concerning these latest challenges. We cover many aspects involving the people, the domestic economy, China's international economy, and relations. We also examine a detailed report card on President Xi. The class is 85% lecture and 15% discussion. There are over 100 visuals and some handouts to enhance the presentation and increase your knowledge.
