Have you ever pondered what life as a servant in an extremely wealthy 20th century home would have been like? Ever wondered about the fact vs fiction as portrayed in pop culture, like Downton Abbey? In tandem with the release of the 3rd Downton Abbey film, Parkwood offers our Servant's Life talk.During this event, guests will enjoy a specialty talk from Parkwood’s Curator, as she shares social history tidbits meshed with the collected servant memories from the Parkwood Oral Histories Archive. While Samantha interprets these stories she will make links to the beloved characters that the Downton Abbey franchise introduced audiences to. Along with memories, a variety of artifacts and servant props will be used as a descriptive show and tell.
As this event takes place in our Sunroom/Loggia, there are several steps to the lower level. If anyone in your party has mobility issues please do let us know a minimum of 7 days in advance of the event.
