Tour of the City of Boerne River Road Park Bank Stabilization Project and EWRI Happy Hour Event!
Join EWRI on Tuesday, April 1st for a tour of the City of Boerne's River Road Park (River Road Park, 100 River Rd, Boerne, TX 78006) followed by a happy hour at The Dodging Duck (402 River Rd, Boerne, TX 78006) right across the street. This is the project that was presented at our EWRI December in-person meeting and is a follow-up event to see the project up close and hear from both EPR and the City of Boerne. The tour of the River Road Park Bank Stabilization Project will be led by:

Project Background:
The River Road Park Bank Stabilization project is located along the north bank of the Cibolo Creek in Boerne, Texas and was completed in April 2024. Presentation from EWRI December in-person meeting detailed the design approach for stabilizing 1,550-LF of riverbank using natural techniques such as boulder toe protection, a native plant and vegetation buffer, and limiting pedestrian access. The design analysis, criteria, and permitting requirements were discussed. In addition to the bank stabilization, the City of Boerne removed sediment that had accumulated behind the dam located at the downstream end of River Road Park and, working with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the local high school welding program, installed fish habitat feature to improve water quality within the Cibolo Creek.
