It's a feast of off-beat rock action at The Cumberland Arms on Friday 26th July, headlined by Glasgow's brilliant Dragged Up - don't miss out on this wild summer ride!PLAYING LIVE:
Dragged Up
Bringing together garage, psychdelia, ethereal art-rock and doomy scuzz, Dragged Up's excellent new album High On Ripple came out earlier this year courtesy of underground hero Cruel Nature Records and showcases the breadth of their sound: contemplative spoken word and VU worship set against no wave squall and mutant psych. Following a great show alongside Poundland in town last year, it's great to be bringing Dragged Up down for a full headline performance.
Pave The Jungle
Blending an arty take on grunge maximalism with thoughtful, intricate compositions, Pave The Jungle have been making waves for their dramatic live show. With their latest single Grim Arithmetic having become a fixture at EW HQ, we're very happy to have them on at one of our shows for the first time.
Lovely Wife
Tyneside's premier merchants of hulking riffs and semi-improvised chaos, the one certainty with Lovely Wife is that freaky, funny noise is sure to follow. Described by The Wire as the "mutant progeny of Butthole Surfers & Iron Monkey", we're as curious as the rest of you to find out just what they've been cooking up for this apperance...
Pink Poison
One of the most exciting new live acts on the scene in recent years, Pink Poison's surreal take on blues rock and old school garage rock tips the hat to Safe as Milk era Captain Beefheart whilst forging its own, modern identity. Following a blistering appearance alongside Objections and Irked last year, it's about time we brought them back for another dose of the strangeness.
