About this Event
The Evolve Academy Children's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament is a Gi-Only tournament open to all Evolve Academy of Martial Arts Affiliated schools and those schools personally invited to attend by Master Mike Moses, Professor Zach Davis, Professor Kenny Brown or Professor Mark Munster.
This tournament will help our students to learn how to compete and gain experience in order to prepare for bigger competitions, both in Jiu-Jitsu and in life. What builds emotional stability and maturity is experiencing the ability to face adversity and challenge with an open mind and fighting spirit. Children especially, who build the capacity to face challenge with comfort, even when the odds are high, will become adults who are able to persevere in a challenging world.
Every match brings an opportunity for all who are participating to gain experience and learn something. We all strive to win but our goal is to embrace the opportunity to grow and learn and this is the primary focus of this tournament. We would like to kindly ask all parents and coaches to uphold the same standards.
The philosophy we want to spread in that of friendship, camaraderie and learning. Our tournament is designed to be fun, laid back and relaxed. We encourage coaches to offer bracket recommendations based on their student's knowledge, experience and ability in BJJ. We wish this to be a positive experience for all those involved!

When are weigh-ins?
Weigh-ins will be held the week of the event. This will be a "honor system" weigh-in in which each participant will weigh in with their coach at their facility, and the coach will then send the particiapnt's weight over to Ms. Melissa at Evolve Academy. Participants should weigh in without wearing their uniform. Please keep in mind that this is a smaller tournament and we will need to consolidate many of the smaller weight brackets. An emphasis should not be on cutting weight in order to make a certain weight bracket. The focus is more on experience in a safe, learning environment.
For the Advanced Open Divisions, how will these be bracketed?
For the Advanced Open Weight brackets, there will be (3) Divisions. The first two are for children ages 12 years and younger. Based on registrations, this group will be divided into two brackets; one for the lighter half , and one for the heavier half. Teens will be placed in their own Division. IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER or INTERMEDIATE TEEN COMPETITOR (little to no tournament experience) , YOU NEED TO REGISTER IN OUR REGULAR TEEN DIVISION, NOT THE ADVANCED DIVISION!!
What's the refund policy?
You may receive a full refund for up to 7 days prior to the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, you do not have to bring your ticket in order to gain entrance to the event.
