La chorégraphe Hadar Ahuvia, basée à New York, s'interroge sur les racines des danses folkloriques israéliennes qu'elle a appris à danser avec sa mère aux États-Unis. Confrontée à des histoires romancées sur ses grands-parents, colons en Palestine dans les années 1930, elle entame une démarche personnelle pour confronter les mythologies fondatrices et les transgressions du sionisme. Un réseau de portraits artistiques émerge – des danseur·euse·s d'origine juive, israélienne et palestinienne vivant à New York s'interrogent sur ce qui est hérité et sur ce que nous incarnons pour aller de l'avant.
La projection sera suivie d'une discussion animée par Aurora Prelević en présence virtuelle de l'équipe du tournage : Tatyana Tenenbaum(réalisatrice), Hadar Ahuvia (chorégraphe), Ze'eva Cohen (danseuse) et Brighid Greene (productrice). La discussion sera menée en anglais, avec possibilité de traduction en français.

NYC-based choreographer Hadar Ahuvia interrogates the roots of the Israeli folk dances she grew up dancing with her mother in the US. Facing romanticized stories about her grandparents, settlers in Palestine in the 1930s, she begins a personal endeavor to confront the founding mythologies and transgressions of Zionism. A web of artistic portraits emerges—Jewish, Israeli, and Palestinian dancers living in New York City question what is inherited and what we embody to carry forward.
The screening will be followed by a discussion hosted by Aurora Prelević, with the virtual presence of the film crew: Tatyana Tenenbaum (director), Hadar Ahuvia (choreographer), Ze'eva Cohen (dancer) and Brighid Greene (producer). The discussion will be conducted in English, with the possibility of French translation.
