About this Event

About the Free Art School

The Free Art School is a series of creative sessions run by Artist-Led St Helens, where we get together to share the stuff that helps artists actually get by. It’s about learning the behind-the-scenes bits (things like writing proposals, planning events, getting paid, or finding funding) without any jargon or pressure. Led by Claire Weetman and Gee Collins, it’s all based on the idea that everyone’s got something to teach and something to learn.

Where relevant, we will add key learning points from these sessions to the Artist-Led St Helens Wiki page, so that the information is freely available in future.

There are a maximum of 8 places available on each session.

This Session:

Event Planning 2 - Keeping people safe. What is a risk assessment and why do I need one? Using an Event Management Plan

At this session we’ll take a more in depth look at two documents that you might be asked to use when planning events - a Risk Assessment and and Event Management Plan.

We’ll use our Event Planning Guide in the Artist’s Toolkit as a starting point for a session that helps creatives to plan a successful and safe event.

St Helens Borough Council’s Library Service has commissioned Artist Led St Helens to devise and deliver this programme of work. Supported by Arts Council England, thanks to funding from taxpayers, the commission forms part of the Arts in Libraries initiative, helping creatives to develop their practice.
