In many early Yorkshire texts it had the spelling ‘yate’ which is dealt with under that headword. It is therefore quite different from the word ‘gate’ which means ‘way’ or ‘road’ and is of Scandinavian origin: 1286 ‘the way called Linlaygate’, Fixby

We will be walking down many of the gates in York and then finishing at the Falcon Pub.

The start point will be sent to you when you register.

This is dog friendly.

Please note that these are fair weather walks. If the weather is bad on the morning with poor forecasts, the walk will be postponed/rearranged.
