About this Event

Join us for an unforgettable evening walk across Salisbury Plain, where history comes alive amidst the ancient wonders of Stonehenge and its surroundings. Our journey will take us not only to the iconic Stonehenge but also to other remarkable historical monuments, including the Avenue and King Barrow Ridge, adorned with Bronze Age burial mounds. We'll explore the intriguing sites of Woodhenge and Durrington Walls, which conceal the remnants of a Neolithic village. Alongside this rich tapestry of history, you'll also experience the natural beauty and abundant wildlife that flourish in this breathtaking landscape.

Distance: 9km / 5 miles

Time: 3.5 hours

Elevation: 78m

Grade: Beginner (Find out more about our walking grades here)

Terrain: Footpaths through fields, gravel tracks and muddy paths.

About your guide:

Hi I'm Alice, qualified mountain leader and CEO of The Adventure Girls Club. I'm passionate about reconnecting women back nature through adventure and outdoor skills. I set up the club because I didn't feel like I belonged in the outdoor community and I wanted to create a safe space for women like me to head out and enjoy the outdoors in their own way. I love meeting all the lush people who come along to our events and it's best feeling seeing everyone come away feeling more connected to nature and making connections with other like-minded women too.

Transport:

By Car: We will meet at Woodhenge car park. The car park is free but the spaces are limited so please lift-share if you can.

By train/bus: Salisbury is the nearest train station, (12 miles/19 kms) away, with regular trains from London, Bristol/Bath and Southampton. From Salisbury station you can get a direct bus to this stop outside woodhenge.

Liftshare: It would be great to liftshare as much as possible, if you can offer someone a lift please either post in the Geneva app (for members) or in the Whatsapp or Facebook group.

Consent Form:

If you are booked onto the hike please fill in one of these forms no later than the night before. You will not be allowed to partake in the hike unless you have filled out this form.

What to bring:

  • Hiking boots or trainers (that you don't mind getting muddy)
  • Snacks and/or packed dinner
  • Water
  • Waterproofs and a warm layer depending on weather
  • Small first aid kit with personal Medic*tion
  • Bag to put water and snacks in

Toilets:

There are no toilets on this hike so you will have to embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'! If you need to go, just tell someone in the group and hang back for some privacy.

Safety:

I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.

I am a Qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.

Dogs:

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on this walk due to restrictions from the National Trust.

Refund Policy

Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.
