About The Speaker
With a background in media, photography, journalism and nature conservation, Cheryl Silvawood worked at the National Trust in West Exmoor in 2018 and found her passion and specialism for ancient & veteran trees, the oldest living organisms on the planet.
Based in North Devon, Cheryl is a trees and woodlands consultant, ancient & veteran tree specialist, conservation forester and arborist, contracting for various organisations such as the Woodland Trust, and is a verifier for the Ancient Tree Inventory (ATI).
She is also a VETree trainer, a trustee at Hakeford Woods CIO and a trustee at the Ancient Tree Forum (ATF), also representing the ATF for Action Oak.
She authors a blog (https://inalandofgiants.blog/) where she writes about her adventures with trees and shares her knowledge and industry experiences through various platforms like social media (https://www.instagram.com/inalandofgiants.blog/), online and published articles, BBC Gardener’s World, podcasts, talks and guided walks.
She also runs training workshops in veteran tree surveying and management.
