About the JACKSONVILLE PROMISE:

The Jacksonville Promise just awarded 58 scholarships this fall of up to $14,000 over the next 8 semesters. This is our 10th year of offering scholarships and we have now given a total of 350 scholarships. As our funding has grown, we have expanded our benefits—more semesters, more money, more geographic area of coverage. This has created an economic engine for Jacksonville that expands the economy, and each year adds many tens of thousands of dollars to the coffers of the City of Jacksonville , Morgan County & all of the towns in Morgan County. It strengthens our schools and helps our students' budgets.
The Jacksonville Promise is a place-based scholarship available to any public, private or home school graduates that attended school in the geographic boundaries of Jacksonville, Franklin, Meredosia-Chambersburg, Triopia, and Waverly school districts. They must have graduated within the last six years and are now starting college to be eligible for this place-based scholarship. Public, private and home-schooled students are eligible. Students must plan to attend Illinois College or Lincoln Land Community College in Jacksonville.

Two colleges are available for higher education in Jacksonville: Illinois College and Lincoln Land Community College.
