About this Event
Devin C. Williams is a 33 year old rising blues artist who was born in Finley, Ohio, but moved to Southern Illinois and later Auburn Illinois when he was very young. As a teenager, he played drums in a local metal band, where he developed a strong sense of rhythm and an appreciation for the dynamics of music. As Devin grew older, he became interested in Mississippi Delta bottleneck blues, a genre known for its rich emotion and storytelling. He later transitioned from drums to playing the resonator guitar and cigar box guitar, which allowed him to connect more personally with the music.
Now living in Girard, Illinois, Devin enjoys making music and often works with Amanda Scrubbs, also known as Amanda Wilson. She plays washboard and shares his passion for blues. Amanda is from Quincy, Illinois, and currently lives in Washington, Illinois. While attending The Quincy Conservatory of Music, she started learning classical piano at the age of 7 and later learned to play the drums, which adds a great rhythm to their performances.
Together, Devin and Amanda create a sound that honors Mississippi Delta bottleneck blues while bringing their own style to it. Their performances highlight Devin's guitar playing and Amanda's washboard rhythms, making their music enjoyable for audiences. Their teamwork shows how much collaboration matters in music.
Devin C. Williams and Amanda Scrubbs represent the spirit of modern blues through their shared love for music. By combining their backgrounds and experiences, they continue to explore the genre and contribute to the blues community in their area.
