Come walk with us in the summer evening light exploring the beautiful golden valley in Herefordshire which is soaked in history. 3 mile guided walk ending at the amazing Snodhill castle with a short tour by a castle trust representative. Bring a picnic tea for afterwards! This is the third of our short summer Wednesday evening guided walks for locals & tourists alike to enjoy the beautiful light we have at this time of year in the evenings.
This week we are exploring the wonderfully historic Golden Valley in Herefordshire, very near the border of England & Wales,
This area has been fought over for hundreds of years to secure the borderlands for rival forces, and as a result, it is full of castles and historic structures. We walk through ancient woodland and use tracks and lanes which formed part of the Snodhill castle estate when it was a thriving community. Forgotten and neglected for over 350 years, Snodhill Castle is emerging as one of the oldest and most unusual Norman castles in Britain!
At the end of our guided walk we will be treated to a short historical tour of the wonderful castle by an expert, & the ticket price includes a £3 donation to the castle's ongoing restoration, preservation and research project.
Feel free to bring a packed tea to eat together afterwards in this superb location if you would like.
These walks are great for those who want to make sure they get out on foot making the most of the summer, but perhaps don't necessarily want to tackle the mountains.
Each route is prepared and led by a qualified walk leader who will assist people over any stiles/tricky terrain, and will also make sure things are taken at an easy pace with no one being left at the back all the time!
Everyone is very friendly, so if you are coming on your own, with a friend, or bringing your family group, it should be fun!
