Evanston Made presents the Third Annual Evanston Plein Air Festival: July 13-21, 2024. This citywide summer arts festival invites the community to plein air art events hosted in every neighborhood, accessible and free for all! 

Artists are invited to paint in the Plein Air style, all over Evanston, capturing the beauty of Evanston’s natural and built environment and favorite landmarks. 

Blick Evanston on Maple Ave. in Downtown Evanston is our partner location for stamping canvases, panels and to Artist Welcome bags.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Don't miss out on a week of festival events! We encourage community members and patrons to RSVP to the Plein Air Festival to receive event updates. Below is the schedule of events to date.

Friday, July 12 - Main Dempster Mile hosts the Plein Air Festival Kick Off Block Party! Pick up the festival map and schedule of events! Meet the competing artists, see live art demonstrations, shop for plein air art and enjoy live music and delicious drinks and bites! 4-8p

Saturday, July 13- Welcome event for artists participating in the festival.

Monday, 7/15-Friday, 7/19- Paint Outs

Paint Outs are “quick paint” competitions for registered artists, inviting the public to meet plein air painters and gather for awards ceremonies. A Map of all Paint Out locations will be provided to artists upon check-in and available online for the public!

Saturday, July 20 -  Plein air painting demonstration: Fountain Square, 9-11a

Sunday, July 21 - Festival Grand Finale - join us for an afternoon of art, awards and Outdoor Art Market! See the plein air art exhibit of work submitted for judging: Best of Show, Festival Favorite (voted by the public) and additional awards to celebrate Plein Air and our participating artists held at Rotary International. Rotary International in Downtown Evanston, 1560 Sherman Ave, Evanston, IL 60201. Sunday, July 21, 12-4p
