KUBA LICHWA
A lover of African music, who has been playing drums since 2007.
He explored djembe and dundun music alongside Zbigniew "Lolek" Pawłowski and Kuba Pogorzelski.
He took part and accompanied in countless djembe and afrodance workshops conducted by African masters.
In 2011 made his first trip to West Africa. He visited Mali, Guinea, Gambia and Senegal, where he had the opportunity to play at events, ceremonies, ballet rehearsals and weddings. Under the supervision of masters, he learned the culture, tradition and technique of playing the djembe and dunduns. His teacher is, for example, Makan Kone, an excellent soloist of the Ballet du District de Bamako.
In June 2016 he collaborated with Guinean djembefola – Sana Camara.
In January 2019 he made a second trip to West Africa, this time to Senegal, where he collaborated with djembefola Bibiche Sambou Toure and Guinean musicians living in Abene.
In October 2020 organized the first workshop in Poland of one of the best Guinean djembefola - Amara Toure. The intense time, rehearsals, joint concert and long conversations about music were an extremely valuable experience.
He has performed on many stages alongside outstanding musicians such as: Famoudou Konate, Harouna Dembele, Petit Adama Diarra, Seny Toure, Amara Toure, Sana Camara, Dartagnan Camara, Adama Bilorou Dembele, Sidiki Dembele, Billy Konate, Barbara Bangoura, Bibiche Sambou Toure, Piotr Damasiewicz, Kuba Pogorzelski..
He cooperated with the National Forum of Music, under whose banner he played over 80 concerts entitled "Music of the Dark Continent" in Lower Silesian schools and kindergartens.
In 2019 performed with the Piotr Damasiewicz Power Of The Horns group during the Jazztopad festival in Wrocław and during the Summer Jazz Academy in Łódź.
He conducted workshops at Around The Rhythm Festival.
He performed in the group Tiriba, which played West African percussion music.
He cooperates with Strefa Rytmu, City Bum Bum, the Lithuanian group Afrikos Bugani and the international group Folykan International.
For many years, thanks to the experience he has acquired, he has been assembling, repairing and tuning djembe drums, which are known all over the world thanks to their quality.
On a daily basis, at Rytmoteka, he conducts regular djembe lessons in Wrocław and outdoor workshops throughout Poland
