This November, eTown is proud to welcome conductor Matt Butler and his project, Everyone Orchestra, as the very first official Artist-in-Residence at our home in Boulder.
Over several days at eTown Hall, Matt will dive into our studio, capture behind-the-scenes moments and bring together a powerhouse group of musicians for a one-of-a-kind concert. Along the way, he’ll connect with students and our community, all while showcasing the spirit of improvisation and collaboration that defines Everyone Orchestra.
The residency culminates in this special November 4 concert at eTown Hall.
With no setlist and no script, Matt guides a group of guest musicians through an evening of spontaneous, in-the-moment creation. It's music shaped by trust, cues and audience energy.
The event will feature:
Nick Forster
Keith Moseley (String Cheese Incident)
Holly Bowling
Bridget Law (Elephant Revival)
Ross James (Terrapin Family Band)
Scotty Zwang (Umphrey's McGee)
Kanika Moore
About Matt Butler and Everyone Orchestra:
Matt Butler has been the Conductor of Everyone Orchestra (EO) for over two decades, blending his skills as a drummer with the art of conducted improvisation. Over 1,000 musicians have joined Matt on stage with EO, and each performance features a new lineup, often meeting for the first time, to create spontaneous music without prior rehearsals.
As a natural connector and creative leader, Butler excels in crafting unique live music experiences that not only showcase communication among musicians but also engage the audience in a dynamic process of creative exploration. Join in to learn about his innovative approach and experience the magic of live, conducted improvised music firsthand.
With every eTown ticket purchase, you're supporting the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. eTown donates $1 per ticket to Conscious Alliance, aiding hunger relief, youth programs and sustainable solutions for the Oglala Lakota Nation.
