This is a new, monthly event at eTown, featuring a new leader each time. For the month of December, we welcome Daniel Weidlein. He is a Boulder native now living in LA. Daniel and his group M-PACT will be performing at eTown on December 2nd.
About Daniel Weidlein:
Daniel Weidlein is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, music producer, and singer hailing from Boulder, CO and now based in Los Angeles. As a vocalist, he has toured internationally with various vocal groups and is the full-time bass singer and arranger for the acclaimed vocal jazz ensemble M-PACT. He also performs regularly with the LA Choral Lab, a new music ensemble composed of LA’s finest choral and session singers, which delves into diverse, modern choral music and frequently premieres new works. Additionally, Daniel was featured as the bass singer and arranger for “Kinfolk 9” on the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, has sung with Demi Lovato on The Late Late Show with James Cordon, has sung on commercial recordings and film scores, and was a featured instrumentalist in the Academy Award-winning film Whiplash.
Daniel has extensive experience as a music director, vocal producer, and vocal coach, working with individuals and ensembles to enhance their performances through refined vocal pedagogy and, more importantly, their innate storytelling abilities. His work includes collaborations with Broadway singers through Transcendence Theater Company and Broadway@the, as well as serving as the music director for various new musicals, including The Mollyhouse, Bottleshock, and Q2. In the studio, he has been credited as a vocal producer for artists such as Blake McGrath, Julie Craig, Miss Peppermint, Sapphira Cristál, Ryan Amador, Kenton Chen, and many more.
With M-PACT, Daniel has also served as a frequent adjudicator and clinician at vocal festivals across the country, including the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival (2023) and the China International Choral Festival in Beijing (2024).
