Can't wait to see you!
7:30 PM – The Jive Bombers & Johnny Max
With a reputation for lively, toe-tapping jazz and a bluesy edge, this high-energy band and their “Little Big Band” format explores the entire history of jazz and blues, with a focus on Swing, Boogie-Woogie, and vintage R&B. They are joined by guest vocalist Johnny Max. Jiving and swinging in and around Toronto for over 40 years, band members have performed throughout Canada and abroad. Mixed with humour and good-natured kidding around, their shows are always loads of fun for everyone!
9:00 PM – The Blackburn Brothers
An obvious uniqueness that identifies and sets apart BLACKBURN BROTHERS is that they are a band of brothers. Led by Duane (lead vocals, organ, piano), Brooke (guitar, vocals, writing), and Cory (drums, harmony vocals). Oldest brother Robert (guitar, vocal harmonies, writing) and cousin Nathan (bass guitar) can be heard on recent studio recordings. Longtime horn section bandmates include Neil Brathwaite on tenor saxophone and Ted Peters on trombone. Touring bass guitarist is Andrew Stewart. The brothers musical lineage traces back to R&B legend Bobby Dean Blackburn, whose legacy in the Toronto music scene spans over six decades.
10:30 PM – Pretzel Logic
This inspired musical ensemble was founded by saxophonist/singer, Peter Graham, in 1994. In his own words, "At the nexus of jazz, blues and rock lies Steely Dan, the musician's band. Pretzel Logic is a ten piece band dedicated to the exploration and rendition of the music of Steely Dan. We began as a labour of love and continue as such". This results in the listener getting the complete spectrum of Steely Dan's book. You will say it sounds amazingly like the records but with their own flair. The musicianship is top notch and features not only Peter, but Michael Shotton on vocals, Marco Luciani on keyboards and the famed drummer Paul DeLong, to mention only a few. Closing out the festival on Saturday night, September 30th at 10:30 pm, we are sure that they will rock you. Get ready to sing along!
