Etninen ja rodullinen syrjintä poliisitoiminnassa ja turvallisuusalalla Suomessa
Puhuja Markus Himanen tekee aiheesta väitöskirjaa Helsingin yliopistossa. Hän on työskennellyt tutkijana Pysäytetyt-hankkeessa, joka selvitti etnistä profilointia Suomessa. Eri rodullistettujen vähemmistöjen jäsenet ovat kertoneet sekä poliisin että yksityisten vartijoiden taholta kokemastaan syrjivästä valvonnasta. Luennolla käydään myös lyhyesti läpi miten poliisirasismia ja poliisin väärinkäytöksiä on tutkittu eri maissa.

Ethnic and racial discrimination within Finnish policing and security business
Lecturer Markus Himanen is writing his thesis on the topic at the University of Helsinki, and has worked as a researcher for The Stopped -project, which examined ethnic profiling in Finland. Members of different racialized minorities have shared their experiences regarding discriminatory treatment by both the police and private security. The lecture will also touch on how racism and abuse by the police has been studied in different countries.

We are already aware that we can not live as before, but we do not know what the future holds. Others are stuck in the past, but we only want to understand it. Even a small disturbance of an initial condition can lead a system into a completely different state.
