SYNOPSIS
This presentation explores the crucial role of ethics in open source software, how ethical practices foster trust, collaboration, and innovation among contributors, ensuring transparency and fairness. Attendees will learn about licensing and compliance, ethical contribution practices, challenges and best practices, highlighting the importance of responsible and sustainable open source practices.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
David Pearson MBCS CITP CEng has over three decades of client facing experience in IT consulting, solution architecture, software and sales engineering roles gained from his career with Lotus Development and IBM. He now works at Red Hat in the UK as a senior technical architect. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered Member of the BCS (CITP MBCS), where he also chairs the Open Source specialist group (OSSG). An active in a number of open source areas including automation, Python, Mobile Apps / Apple Swift, IBM Power & zSystem platforms and container storage solutions. Outside work, he lives in Kent (UK) loves Jaguar cars, football (West Ham United & England) and interested in parapsychology. https://davpears.carrd.co/
