We invite you to a pop-up studio exhibition by artist Eszter Julia Kuzma who will present her project FORCES OF THE INSIGHTS developed during her three-month residency in Košice.
The constant tension in the world today affects every living person. Wars economic interests that can neglect all kinds of humanity ecological catastrophe and the rise of artificial intelligence are all problems that contribute to the feeling that the world order is completely overturned. The feeling of madness is a very difficult feeling because at the individual level it is only possible to find solutions seemingly otherwise we are helpless against it.
Forces of the insights is a creative reflection on the constant crisis. In these works purgatory appears which metaphorically cleanses the world of all sources that create further suffering as well as the flame of internal aggression itself which consumes the individual from within.
The works also feature the flame as a symbol where metaphorically the flame at first sight seems to have a very dangerous and diabolical quality but later turns out to be a necessary evil in light of the completely cleansed new beginning for the creation of a reunited world.
Textile as a medium makes this threatening quality softer more approachable. The works made here are the imprints of all the accumulated energy that we can all feel and relate to.
The residency program is supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council. The Slovak Arts Council is the main partner of this project. The project was also supported by the City of Košice and the Košice Self-Governing Region.
