U.S. MARINE BAND TUBA SOLOIST TO PERFORM WITH THE NORTH CASCADES CONCERT BAND:
“Espirit Du Corps”
The North Cascades Concert Band, under the direction of Peter Blau-Ormsby, announce that Staff Sergeant , William Samson, Tuba player with the United States Marine Band “The Presidents Own”, from Washington DC, will be the featured soloist with the NCCB for the Spring Concert series in May 2024. The theme for this years Spring concert series will be “Esprit Du Corps” belatedly celebrating the North Cascades Concert Band Silver Anniversary. These Spring concerts will be presented at:

Staff Sgt. Will Samson will be featured with the NCCB Tuba and Euphonium sections performing music by G/.H. Herfinne, Roy Newsome, and Robert W. Smith. The Band will also feature music by Holst, Rimsky-Korsakov, and especially John Phillip Sousa. Several marches by John Philip Sousa will also be featured. Maestro Blau-Ormsby states, “This is a program that reflects the musical growth and excellent musicianship of the band.”
William Samson joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in February 2016. He began his musical training on the tuba at age 11. After graduating in 1999 from Appleton North High School he earned a Bachelor’s degree in music performance in 2003 from Lawrence University in Appleton and a Master’s degree from Rice University in 2005. He is currently working on a doctorate at the University of Houston. Prior to joining “The President’s Own,” he performed with several other Orchestras and Brass ensembles including the Houston Symphony, all in Houston, Texas.
