About this Event
Fresh from an annual tasting featuring the wines of many trailblazing Spanish producers, we have handpicked a lineup of super wines to sum up the breadth and depth of brilliant winemaking happening across Spain, from very old Valencian vines and pristine Madrileno Garnacha, to the lithe river reds of Galicia as well as paradigm-shifting dry whites from the heart of sherry country.
Few other countries can offer such characterful native grapes and ambitious winemaking from top to toe. Whilst the modernising zeal of the 1960s onwards brought high yields, stainless steel and fault-free winemaking, this quest for modern Spanish wine also left behind many regions that gamely refused to plant Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. Thankfully a new generation of Vinateros are building on the work of 80s and 90s neo-traditionalists, working hard to restore abandoned plots, resurrect winemaking traditions and produce delicious wines along the way. Vamos!
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
