This ESOL course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to communicate effectively through reading, writing and/or speaking and listening in their everyday life, study or in the world of work. The course includes reading texts from different sources. Although the activities are separated into different skills, many activities are linked, for example independent reading or viewing can be the stimulus for independent writing or for speaking.Learning outcomes include:
Respond to straightforward spoken English in various contexts, such as conversations, instructions, and announcements
Recognize and interpret key information in short audio materials related to familiar topics
Engage in simple discussions on familiar topics with confidence and clarity
Use appropriate vocabulary and expressions to ask for and give information, express opinions, and make requests
Read simple texts, such as notices, forms, and emails, recognizing key details and information
Write clear and coherent sentences and short paragraphs on familiar topics, using basic grammar and vocabulary
Fill out forms and complete other basic written tasks, such as writing short notes or messages
Demonstrate a basic understanding of key grammatical structures and vocabulary relevant to everyday life in English-speaking environments
Use simple tenses correctly and apply basic rules of punctuation
Participate in everyday interactions, such as shopping, making travel arrangements, and socializing, demonstrating appropriate language and cultural awareness
Understand and follow simple instructions and guidelines in both spoken and written form
This course will run weekly every Tuesday from 5th November – 17th December ’24
This course is aimed at individuals (Aged 19+) who have moved to UK and need to learn English for daily communication, work, or integration into society. People who wish to improve their academic language skills. Non-native English speakers looking to enhance their language skills for job opportunities, career advancement, or professional development.
