About the workshop:

Sustainability, high-level concepts of stakeholder management, the philosophy of CSR, and ESG and stakeholder capitalism. The idea is to help a company understand better why they are doing ESG. The masterclass will start with a high-level understanding of the purpose of the firm, the competing views of shareholders vs stakeholders, current discussions on ESG among business leaders, and things to pay attention to that could impede progress.

The key topics that will be covered are:

  1. What is stakeholder capitalism?
  2. How can we integrate stakeholder thinking in ESG efforts?
  3. Challenges and opportunities of ESG
  4. Industry examples of successful ESG and greenwashing


About :

Dr Syahirah Abdul Rahman is a Senior Lecturer in Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Alliance Manchester Business School and currently works as a co-investigator of the Innovation & Research Caucus, a network funded by the Economic & Social Research Council, Innovate UK, and UK Research & Innovation. Her expertise is in developing evidence for policy stakeholders in the research and innovation landscape, focusing on meaningful collaborations with multiple stakeholders and striving to help others build capabilities and capacity in this area. She has co-edited books and written policy reports and academic articles that leverage on strong policy analysis capabilities, contributing to shaping impactful policies that drive economic and societal progress.
