About this Event
Speaker: Dr Catherine Pearson
Colchester Castle Museum curator and archaeologist, E.J. Rudsdale (1910-1951), kept a journal throughout his life, with the aim of recording archaeological finds and observations on daily life. After his death, his journals were left to Essex Record Office and sealed for 25 years. This talk will reveal Rudsdale’s experiences of life in Essex during a period of dramatic change, from the inter-war years to the Second World War, as told through his journals.
Dr Catherine Pearson read history at King’s College, London and completed her MA and PhD at University College London. Her publications include: E.J. Rudsdale’s Journals of Wartime Colchester and Museums in the Second World War: Curators, Culture and Change. She works at Anglia Ruskin University.
