Okay. Here we go, one last time (maybe).I really hope we can squeeze on more in before the boats are out up for good.
***Thank you so much everyone that's come out to join these moonlight floats. I really hope to make this something even bigger next year.***
KAYAKERS, CANOERS, PADDLE BOARDS of all skill levels and ages...
Come join as we paddle the Erie Canal AFTER the sun has set!!
LIGHTS ARE A MUST!!! (Police have told me directly. They LOVE this!! But we must have lights)
Not only because it's super fun and awesome! But because this is a highly traveled water way. Boats! (the real kind) will be traveling along with us while we paddle. So it's asked that you imagine yourself as a bicyclist or pedestrian, if you hear "BOAT!" please move to the sides and allow them through. They are being as patient as they can with us at points. Let's try and make them appreciate this as much as we do.
Transportation-
I suggest if you have multiple vehicles coming to this, then use them accordingly. There's plenty of parking at both ends. Buddy system works great, and if you can't, then ask me or around to the other participants before the start, don't stress about it. We all enjoy this and are willing to help each other.
THE START-
We put-in at Gateway Harbor in Tonawanda. Located behind the Walgreens at the corner of Broad and Young streets.
We stage under the trees close to the ramp down to the kayak rental dock where we launch.
Jim (owner of kayak rental place) has been a wonderful help and great sport in this, as we basically cut through his business for our personal needs 😉. Please thank him WHEN YOU SEE HIM. If not for him, this would be so much more difficult.
THE END-
North Tonawanda's Botanical Gardens, located at the corners of Sweeney St and E Robinson Rd. This is a duel sided roller style launch super easy located to the left of the over head lights. Also have powerboat launches to the right of the lights, for those that would rather walk off. Careful they are a bit slick.
PLEASE!!!
Being friends, family, talk about it, explain to those floating friends what they can experience with us.
-Let's being the light-
