This workshop is now fully booked, but you can still register your interest in case a space opens up.This workshop is heavily subsidised thanks to the Lucie Nottingham fund.
Bird identification can be challenging, particularly in the summer months when leaves provide good cover and restrict our views. Sometimes it can be easier to identify a bird by its song or call rather than its appearance, particularly when the bird insists on remaining hidden!
In this entirely outdoor workshop, we will look for and identify the species of birds found within the Helman Tor reserve complex. We will start at Breney Common, passing through a variety of habitats before heading on up the hill. As we go, we will be coached in the ability to recognise distinct phrases of birdsong and separate species using the subtle differences in their calls. We will also discuss survey methods which can be used in structured monitoring.
